Family Liturgy
Family Liturgy - A banner is completed by the children in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes of Holy Spirit School or CCD and then is carried to the altar in the opening procession. The readings are taken from a Children's Lectionary, which is done in easier language. An 8th grade Confirmation student does the readings. Then the children are invited to sit around the altar with the priest for the homily, which is geared toward them. Four children from grades 3 through 6 write and read their own petitions. A parish family brings up the gifts in the Offertory procession. At the end of Mass, the children receive a small symbolic gift.
