Dear Parents,
As we begin our Advent season, a time of waiting for the Christ Child, remember the new wording for many prayers at Mass. I know it will take some time getting used the words but now all English speaking countries will be the same.
December is here and we are preparing for the coming of the Christ Child. Each week the students participate in the Advent wreath service at the beginning of the morning. Won't you join us each Wednesday before the students go to class?
Friday, December 2nd is a half day of school. It is also the end of the first trimester and the day of our Winter Auction. Thanks to many of our families donations for this evening have been coming in. If you still wish to donate, please call the school office.
On Wednesday, December 7 the students will see a condensed performance by the Hampstead Players - "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe".
There is NO SCHOOL on Thursday, December 8th. It is the Immaculate Conception, a holyday of obligation. Remember to go to Mass!
"Breakfast with Santa" is Sunday, December 11th after the 9:00AM Mass. A donation of gloves, scarves or socks for underprivileged women and children is greatly appreciated.
Our annual Christmas Show will be Wednesday, December 14th in church at 7:30PM. The students have been busy practicing their songs for this happy evening. You will receive a letter closer to the date with more details.
Thursday, December 15th and Friday, December 16th are 1/2 days of school for the Parent/teacher conferences held from 1 to 3PM each day. You will receive a letter with the report card to schedule a date. Please make sure you return the bottom portion by due date so that the teachers can schedule time slots.
Our last day of school for the Christmas vacation is Friday, December 23rd. The students will be going to the 8:30AM Mass and then have a bagel breakfast in our cafegymatorium.
Our "Toys for Tots" program begins on Dec. l and ends Dec. 20. Please try to be generous as always. The gifts are distributed in town and local charities.
There is still time to apply for "Inner City Scholarship Program" through the Archdiocese. If you are in need of financial assistance please go on line to download the application. RCAN.org The deadline is Dec. 31 st.
Please make sure your tuition is paid in a timely manner. Just a reminder - IF YOU ARE 2 MONTHS IN ARREARS YOUR CHILD MAY BE DENIED ACCESS TO CLASS.
Students seem to be dressed properly in uniforms with the exception of a few details. For example: Shoes must be worn not Sketchers, sneakers. Hair should be conservative with no big bows. Length of hair should be above the shirt collar and above the eyebrows.
Food vouchers may be purchased through the school office on a daily basis. Please take advantage of this program since it does generate quite a bit of money for our school budget.
